Candle Holder Craft for All Ages - Port Charlotte

By Adrianne Butwell November 21, 2024

With the outdoor temperatures finally cooling down, it's the perfect time to get outside and do some activities! Crafting some beautiful candle holders seems pretty perfect right now. The sun sets early and the temperature is cool, so lighting a couple candles at night can make the house feel warm and cozy. I got the craft idea from a friend recently, and thought it was too perfect not to do.

For supplies, you will need...

Mod Podge

Paint Brushes or Sponges

Dried Flowers

Mason Jars

Jute Cord

Be as creative as you choose. Your Mod Podge can be matte, glossy or glittery. Your flowers can be store bought or home-pressed, and whatever color you choose.

The jars I chose to work with were ones that I won't use for food, and I think have a fun shape to use with candles.

Mod Podge dries pretty quickly, so it's a good idea to paint it on a small area, add your flowers then move to another small area. The mod podge goes on white, as you can see in the picture, but it will soon dry to clear.

Spend some time working your way around the jar slowly, so the mod podge dries as you go.

Once you're finished adding flowers, you can go over it all completely with a thin top coat of the Mod Podge. You can add a bow using jute cord, like I did here, or you can use colored ribbon as an accent.

I added a candle to the shorter jar to put on our dining table, and tiny fairy lights to the taller jar, which is now being used as a night light!

Note: If you use real candles, be sure to supervise at all times for safety.
