#momhack MONDAY!

October 9, 2017

We are dedicating the month of October to spooky Halloween Hacks! This Monday's hack is all about keeping those Jack-o-Lanterns fresher for longer. There are several ways to do this, the most popular technique is spraying your pumpkin with a bleach solution or giving your pumpkin a bleach bath. For a bleach bath you will want to use one teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water, soak the pumpkins 4-6 hours, occasionally pouring some water over them. For a bleach spray you will have to spray your pumpkins daily, including the inside. Spraying or soaking your pumpkins helps keep them hydrated from the water (which keeps them from rotting) and the bleach kills bacteria (which further keeps them from rotting). Another technique is using Vaseline to the carved parts of your pumpkin which helps prevent mold and rotting. Finally, there is also a pumpkin spray that you can purchase for about $5 called Pumpkin Fresh. Whichever method you choose, we can guarantee that your pumpkins will stay fresh and fabulous for the month of October!
